  • FC Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has been ruled out for the rest of the club season thanks to a hamstring injury.
  • He’s expected to recover in time for the World Cup with Spain.
  • With that in mind, Barca’s sport commission met with Spain national team physiotherapists on Monday to discuss his recovery.

FC Barcelona held a meeting with Spain physiotherapists Raul Martínez and Fernando Galan on Monday at the Joan Gamper CT, according to SPORT.

The meeting takes place every week at around lunchtime. On this occasion, though, La Roja’s medical experts were invited to discuss Lamine Yamal.

Lamine sidelined himself for five weeks during last Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Celta Vigo. But he’s expected to be fit for Spain’s World Cup campaign. That kicks off on June 15, via a Group H meeting with Cape Verde.

Of the pair, it is usually Galan that takes care of Barca’s Spain internationals. At the meeting, information was shared regarding the 18-year-old’s knock. The first days of recovery were analysed too.

Furthermore, a plan has to be drawn up for the number 10’s road to recovery once he leaves the Spain camp. And depending on how far Luis de la Fuente’s men go as favourites, there could then be around a month until the start of the 2026/2027 La Liga campaign.

Barcelona urge caution with Lamine Yamal

Barca know that Lamine’s recovery has to be managed carefully. And that’s especially true when considering the high risk of relapse.

Deadlines shouldn’t be rushed. Every detail needs meticulous care, to avoid problems in the medium and long term. Football is laden with examples of other professionals that forced their return to action. Later down the road, they paid for it dearly.

Disagreements in the past between the Catalans and Spain over Lamine have also been common. So for the benefit of both parties and their prize asset, collaboration will be key here.

As for Barca, Lamine’s involvement in preseason must be well thought out as should whether he starts 2026/2027 at full capacity if there are potential pitfalls.
