  • Robert Lewandowski’s FC Barcelona contract ends on June 30, 2026.
  • The Pole has reportedly received a one-year renewal offer with a pay cut.
  • Barça isn’t guaranteed to get Julian Alvarez making this a solid strategy.

The future of FC Barcelona’s attacking line is heading into a decisive week.

According to the latest reports circulating around the Spotify Camp Nou from outlets such as SPORT, the board led by Joan Laporta has reportedly placed a formal proposal on the table to ensure the continuity of their top offensive reference, Robert Lewandowski.

There is a catch, though, in that he must take a pay cut to carry on in Catalonia.

A One-year offer with a drastic salary reduction

The news has shaken social media, and reveals that the Blaugrana will offer the Polish striker a one-season contract extension (until June 30, 2027), but with a non-negotiable condition: a 50% salary reduction.

This move responds to the club’s urgent need to comply with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play regulations and reduce the first-team wage bill.

Currently, Lewandowski is one of the highest-paid players in the squad, and at 37 years old, the club is looking for a formula that allows them to retain his goal-scoring instinct without compromising economic stability.

Negotiation Keys: Will Robert Lewandowski accept?

Despite the magnitude of the pay cut, several factors could tip the scales toward a “yes” from the striker:

  • Family Adaptation: The Lewandowski family is fully integrated into life in Barcelona and the western beach suburb of Castelldefels, a significant factor the player has always prioritized.
  • Mentorship Role: With the potential arrival of new young reinforcements in attack, the club sees Robert as the ideal mentor to lead the offensive transition.
  • Performance Bonuses: It is speculated that the contract would include substantial variables for goals and titles, allowing the player to recover part of his earnings if he maintains his current scoring rate.

Robert Lewandowski’s impact on the locker room and sporting planning

If this move is confirmed, Barça would achieve a dual objective: retaining a world-class goalscorer while freeing up vital salary cap space to register other players or tackle new signings.

The big question remains the player’s stance, as he also reportedly holds tempting offers from the MLS, the Saudi Pro League and Turkey.

Whenever asked, Lewandowski has reiterated that he won’t make a decision on his future until May, and it seems that we’ll have to wait for that point of the season when the major club competitions are coming to a conclusion.
