  • Context: Interest is linked to long-term planning around Robert Lewandowski’s future.

Barcelona have begun exploring the possibility of signing Atlético Madrid striker Alexander Sørloth, as part of their ongoing search for attacking reinforcements ahead of next season.

According to MARCA, the Catalan club have already made initial enquiries regarding the Norwegian forward, identifying him as a profile that could suit Hansi Flick’s tactical system.

The interest comes amid growing uncertainty around Robert Lewandowski’s long-term future, with Barcelona evaluating different options who could either complement or eventually replace the Polish striker.

Why Sørloth Appeals to Barcelona

Sørloth is viewed internally as a striker with characteristics similar to Lewandowski – particularly his physical presence, ability to play with his back to goal, and effectiveness inside the box.

Standing at 1.95m, the Norwegian offers a profile that Barcelona currently lack in depth. Especially when it comes to aerial threat and hold-up play. His ability to adapt quickly to a structured attacking system is also seen as a key advantage.

Another factor working in his favour is his experience in La Liga. Sørloth has consistently delivered strong performances in Spain. He’s proven to be a difficult opponent for Barcelona, scoring goals against them on multiple occasions.

Market Opportunity for Barcelona, Not Priority

Despite the initial enquiry, it is important to note that Sørloth is not currently the club’s primary attacking target. The move is part of a broader market analysis, with Barcelona assessing different profiles depending on financial feasibility and squad planning.

The Norwegian striker, who remains under contract with Atlético Madrid until 2028, would represent a relatively accessible option compared to other high-profile forwards on the market.

Early Stages of Exploration

At this stage, the situation remains exploratory. Barcelona are gathering information and evaluating whether a deal could become viable in the coming months.

Multiple attacking scenarios are still open. This includes decisions around Lewandowski and other targets. But Sørloth’s name has emerged as a realistic, system-fitting alternative rather than a headline signing.

For now, it is a situation to monitor, as Barcelona continue shaping their attacking plans for the future.
