Barcelona Champions League Opponents Confirmed: PSG Away, Manchester City at the Camp Nou

Barcelona’s Champions League opponents for the 2026/27 league phase are confirmed. The draw in Monaco on Thursday evening handed Hansi Flick’s side a home schedule of Manchester City, Aston Villa, Feyenoord and Como, and away trips to Paris Saint-Germain, Sporting CP, Galatasaray and Sabah.

It is, by any reading, a demanding set. Having gone out at the quarter-final stage last season, the Blaugrana went into the ceremony as a Pot 1 seed and came out of it with the reigning champions, a Premier League heavyweight at the Spotify Camp Nou and one of the longest journeys any club will make this season.

Barcelona’s eight Champions League fixtures

Home: Manchester City, Aston Villa, Feyenoord, Como.
Away: Paris Saint-Germain, Sporting CP, Galatasaray, Sabah.

Under the format now in its third season, 36 clubs play eight league-phase games apiece — four at home, four away — with the top eight going straight through to the round of 16 and the sides placed ninth to 24th dropping into a knockout play-off. Barcelona drew two opponents from each of the four pots, as every club does, and no association can supply more than two of them.

Paris and the Ferran Torres reunion

The headline tie is the trip to the Parc des Princes. Barcelona meet Luis Enrique’s European champions in the league phase for a second successive season, and this time they travel — which also means an early reunion with Ferran Torres, who left the club for PSG this summer in a €48.5m deal. Ousmane Dembélé and Lucas Digne are among the other familiar faces in the French squad.

There is a mirror image of that story in the home fixture list. Rodri faces Manchester City at the Camp Nou only months after his €60m move to Catalonia, a night that has the makings of the pick of Barcelona’s four home games. Flick signed him precisely to give the midfield more control; City will know better than anyone what that looks like when it works. Rodri’s first competitive minutes in a Barcelona shirt have only just arrived, and Europe follows quickly.

Aston Villa, Como and a trip to Baku

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa complete a pair of English visitors to the Camp Nou and are no gift from Pot 2, while Feyenoord bring Dutch pedigree and Cesc Fàbregas’s Como arrive as Champions League debutants — a former Barcelona midfielder returning to the Camp Nou in the opposite dugout.

The away schedule is where the difficulty really sits. Beyond Paris, there is Sporting CP in Lisbon, a hostile night against Galatasaray in Istanbul and a fixture at Sabah, the Azerbaijani debutants, which will be among the longest trips made by any side in the competition.

When Barcelona’s European season starts

The full fixture list, with confirmed dates and kick-off times, is released on Saturday 29 August. The league phase begins in the week of 8–10 September and concludes on 27 January 2027, with the final in Madrid. For the club’s stated ambition — going further than the last-eight exit of last season — the immediate target is a top-eight finish, which skips the play-off round entirely and secures the better side of the knockout bracket.
