  • The 4-1 win against Espanyol in La Liga put Barca nine points clear in La Liga.
  • The striker vowed that the Catalans will overturn a 2-0 Champions League quarterfinal deficit currently in Atletico Madrid’s favour.

FC Barcelona striker Ferran Torres promised that his team will overcome Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals after scoring a brace in a 4-1 thrashing of Espanyol.

Ferran hadn’t netted since January 31. He needed just nine minutes to bag against the Pericos, however, and explained his celebration to Movistar.

“There’s always external noise around me, more often bad and very rarely good. It bothers them, but I’m always focused on myself, on working and improving,” Ferran said.

“Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but it’s not for lack of work,” said the Foios native.

“In the end, it’s clear that a striker is judged by goals. It’s true I hadn’t scored in a while, but I always believe in hard work, which brings rewards when you’re patient.”

Ferran and the Barca players appreciated the atmosphere in Camp Nou

The Spotify Camp Nou received a record attendance for a men’s game in excess of 60,000 punters.

ReadBarcelona noticed an improved atmosphere led by the Grada d’animació. So did the players.

“Today this place was a cauldron of noise. It was the match where we felt the stadium was packed the most. They were with us, and it was a very special day for them, and we were able to give them the result,” Ferran explained.

Ferran believes in Barcelona’s comeback

The Gol Sud and the Grada d’animació cheered “Yes you can” at full time. Ferran also believes Hansi Flick’s men can come back from two goals behind in the Champions League quarterfinals.

“We can and he will” he vowed. And with performances like this, Barca certainly received a boost.

They’re now nine points clear, and go to the Metropolitano knowing they’ve come back twice there in a year while looking to have won sealed La Liga titles in four terms.

All that’s missing is a Champions League crown, and it’s Atleti who stand in their way in that respect.
