At a glance
- FC Barcelona substitutes have scored 17 goals this season.
- Only Bayern Munich lead the Catalans in Europe in this respect.
- Marcus Rashford (4) and Robert Lewandowski (6) have netted the most off the bench.
Hansi Flick‘s supersubs have made their minutes count in 2025/2026.
As explained by the club, FC Barcelona’s players coming off the bench have notched 17 goals in 33 games. This a league best, and is perhaps one of the many reasons why the Blaugrana currently enjoy an 11 point lead at the Spanish top flight summit while closing in on a third crown in four years.
Last week’s foes Celta Vigo are next in the rankings on 16 goals, while Champions League quarterfinals opponents Atletico Madrid have 15.
Across Europe, Barca almost dominate with only Bayern Munich bettering them on 18 Bundesliga goals from those that didn’t get the starting nod from Vincent Kompany.
When the game needs changing, they show up for Barcelona
Marcus Rashford‘s recent goal against Getafe is an example of that. Granted Barca already led 1-0, but in a ground where they hadn’t won since September 2019, nerves were creeping in as the home team pushed for an equaliser and Pau Cubarsi had to make a goal line clearance.
Set through clean on goal by Robert Lewandowski, however, Rashford doubled the Blaugrana’s lead and gave them their comfortable cushion in La Liga.
Across the team, they lead scoring substitutes on four (Rashford) and six goals (Lewandowski), with the nearest competition Raphinha on two.
All chipping in Dani Olmo, Ronald Araujo, Fermin, Marc Bernal and Ferran Torres complete the list with a goal each.
This speaks to Flick’s success in motivating his players, who are hungry to contribute to the cause despite not having the start they wanted. As for Rashford himself, it probably plays a factor in Barca reportedly wanting to extend his loan given the sort of impact he can have when the game needs it.
