Gavi Reports for Barcelona Training Six Days Early

Gavi is already back at work. The Barcelona midfielder reported to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Thursday, six days ahead of schedule, to begin his pre-season under Hansi Flick. The 22-year-old, a 2026 World Cup winner with Spain, had not been due to link up with the club’s other world champions until 12 August.

Gavi steps up his return early

The Andalusian carried out an individual session on the grass, working apart from team-mates who are further along in their fitness. His early return underlines a determination to be ready for the start of a campaign he sees as pivotal, after last season was disrupted by a serious injury that kept him out for months, as Mundo Deportivo reported. He turned up sporting freshly dyed pink hair, having promised the makeover if Spain lifted the World Cup.

He was not alone on the Gamper pitches. Academy man Jofre Torrents, linked with a possible move to Ajax that could be settled in the coming hours, also trained on Thursday, while summer signing Jesse Bisiwu continued to build his fitness after joining the group in England. For now the focus is simply on sharpness, but the sight of a fully fit, hungry Gavi returning early will be a welcome one for Flick as the Blaugrana build towards the new season.
