Jofre Torrents Set to Complete Ajax Move From Barcelona

Barcelona are poised to confirm another La Masia departure. Jofre Torrents, the 19-year-old left-back, is on the verge of a permanent transfer to Ajax, with the move expected to be made official within hours. The Dutch club have pushed hard for the young defender, and an agreement between the two sides is now in place.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the announcement had been expected sooner but was held up by Ajax’s opening fixture of the season. Torrents did not travel with Barcelona’s youth side for the pre-season triangular in Udine, a clear signal that his exit was close. The transfer hands the teenager a path to regular football at a club renowned for developing young talent.

What the Jofre Torrents Deal Means

Crucially for Barcelona, this is not a clean break. The Catalans are reported to retain 50 per cent of Torrents’ economic rights and have secured a buy-back option, keeping a route open should his development in the Netherlands go to plan. It is the same protective model the Blaugrana have increasingly applied to their most promising academy graduates.

For now, Torrents leaves to continue his rise elsewhere. If Ajax’s faith is rewarded, Barcelona have made sure they can one day bring one of their own back home.
