‘The Team is Switched On’: Barcelona Star Kounde Reveals Preparations Before Clasico

Share
  • FC Barcelona star Jules Kounde said that he sees the first team as “very switched on” before the Clasico.
  • Kounde could start at right back against Real Madrid on Sunday in a title-deciding match.
  • If Barca win or draw, they’ll confirm a second La Liga title in three years under Hansi Flick.

FC Barcelona full back Jules Kounde shed light on his team’s preparations for El Clasico by saying that he sees it as “very switched on” ahead of May 10.

The Catalans meet Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday. To seal a third La Liga title in four years, they need just a point.

Hansi Flick’s men will want the win, however, as with four more of them they can become only the third team in history to achieve a 100-point campaign.

In quotes carried by Mundo Deportivo, Kounde said that he thinks Barca are in good shape. “I see the team very well, very switched on. We are all looking forward to playing in the Clasico. And, additionally, we can win La Liga with a draw, but victory would be the best. We trained very well today and, personally, I feel good. We are very excited,” he said.

A fan favourite, Kounde thanked the Culers who “support us, travel, and come to the CT”.

“I wouldn’t like to live a life without feeling that pressure, that I have responsibility, and that there are people who count on us. It is part of our life as an elite athlete. I live it as part of our work. we assume that pressure as something positive to try to give the best version,” the Frenchman explained.

Though he hasn’t had the best season in 2025/2026 which has been beset by injuries and poor form, Kounde is still expected to start the Clasico.

That will come via being deployed at right back ahead of Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo. A guaranteed modern day club legend because of his winner against them in the Copa del Rey final, Kounde has history on his side when it comes to Madrid and will be charged with containing an in-form Vinicius Jr.
