Barcelona Ready Final €70m Rodri Bid After Two Rejections
Barcelona are readying a third and final Rodri bid after two offers were turned down by Manchester City, with the Blaugrana prepared to put a package worth around €70 million on the table, according to Cadena SER. The club remain confident the World Cup winner can be brought to the Spotify Camp Nou before the window shuts on 31 August.
City dismissed Barcelona’s opening proposal of €45–50 million earlier this summer, and on Wednesday they rejected an improved €60 million package, holding out for a fixed fee of €70–80 million even though the midfielder has only a year left on his contract. The final offer is expected to be structured as €60 million guaranteed plus €10 million in add-ons, although Barça Universal reports that SPORT believe it could stretch to €65 million fixed plus €10 million in variables.
Rodri bid backed by the player
The 30-year-old’s preference is not in doubt. Per SPORT, Rodri has asked City to facilitate his exit and has made concessions on his own contract, reportedly giving up sums Real Madrid were prepared to pay him. He is due back in Manchester on Friday, but would rather travel straight to Barcelona if an agreement is reached before then.
It promises to be a decisive few days for the Catalans. With Ferran Torres reportedly closing on a €55 million move to PSG that would free up funds, Barcelona hope to have the new offer with City within hours — and to bring the saga to a close at last.
