Roony Bardghji Set to Leave Barcelona This Summer
Roony Bardghji is set to leave Barcelona before the transfer window closes, with the Swedish winger and the club agreeing he should seek regular football elsewhere this season. According to Fabrizio Romano, both parties have decided the 20-year-old will move on in the final weeks of the window in search of the minutes his development now needs.
Why Roony Bardghji is on the move
The summer arrivals of Anthony Gordon and the signing of Karim Adeyemi have left Barcelona stacked out wide, adding to a forward line that already boasts Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. That logjam has all but closed the door on the game time Bardghji craves after a debut campaign of just two goals and three assists in 28 appearances. He has impressed Hansi Flick in pre-season, but the pecking order tells its own story.
Barcelona still rate the winger highly and want to keep a hand in his future, with reports suggesting they will push for a buy-back clause, while the player himself is understood to favour a loan that keeps one foot in Catalonia. Ajax are among the interested parties, as Barca Blaugranes reported.
“Both parties have come to that agreement and the decision has been made. Bardghji will leave this summer,” the report stated.
With just over three weeks of the window remaining, the Blaugrana are now expected to accelerate their outgoings — and Roony Bardghji looks likely to be among the first to go.
