At a glance

  • Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is a top transfer target for FC Barcelona.
  • Catalan sources say the centre-back is ready to accept a five-year offer from the Blaugrana.
  • Italian reports explain that Bastoni will be paid more than Inter’s current €7 million a year terms or a renewal offer, but his €60-80 million price tag is an obstacle.

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is ready to accept a five-year contract offer from FC Barcelona according to SPORT.

Meanwhile in Italy, transfer market expert Gianluigi Longari backs this by explaining that Bastoni’s camp know about a package put together by the Catalans which is superior to the €7 million he reportedly earns this term.

At present, Bastoni is said to earn €5.5 million a season on a deal that expires in 2028 and has risen to the quoted amount in 2025/2026.

As part of a renovation package at the San Siro, Inter could improve that figure.

In a rare turn of events for a club often priced out of competing for top players thanks to its post-pandemic economic crisis, however, FC Barcelona’s five-term package until June 30, 2030 is apparently worth more.

Bastoni accepting FC Barcelona terms is only half of the battle

While it is all well and good Bastoni giving his thumbs up to Barça and their reportedly tabled offer, there is still a lot of work to be done in the boardroom.

Under contract for another two years, the Italy international is worth a pretty penny – or something between €60-80 million to be more precise.

When Barça are chasing Julian Alvarez, rated at €200 million, it seems like pipe dreams trying to land just one of these potential targets nevermind one.

That makes a touted sale of Alejandro Balde to the Premier League a more attractive prospect, with Liverpool and Manchester United interested in buying the €55 million-priced left back.

Thanks to the impressive form of Joao Cancelo, Hans Flick can afford to lose the La Masia graduate from a sporting prospective at left back. As an aside, though, the Portuguese too needs to be bought outright from Al-Hilal with a swap deal that sends Marc Casado to Saudi Arabia talked up this week.

As Robert Lewandowski knocks on in years and Ferran Torres remains erratic, however, Barça should probably prioritise Alvarez above all if they have to.
