Roony Bardghji’s Barcelona tenure could reach a crossroads this summer.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick thinks highly of the 20-year-old prospect, but Bardghji needs consistent playing time. With Lamine Yamal on the right wing, getting consistent minutes is highly unlikely at the Spotify Camp Nou.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are going to make a decision on whether to loan him out or sell him with a sell-on clause this summer.
Why Bardghji needs to leave
Despite making 23 appearnaces in all competitions this season, Bardghji has accumulated just 616 minutes, scoring two goals and assisting four. These numbers, whilst solid for the playing time he’s received, aren’t anywhere near high enough for a player to properly develop.
Bardghji has been open about his unhappiness with his limited game time at Camp Nou. He feels he “deserves more“. It seems with Lamins firmly established as Barcelona’s untouchable right-winger, nothing will change next season unless the Dane moves on.
Who wants Roony Bardghji?
Juventus are the club leading the race, and are keen on a loan move. The idea of developing at the Old Lady will surely appeal to the youngster given their rich history as one of Europe’s elite clubs. Porto and Real Betis are also closely monitoring his situation.
The Blaugrana have also offered Bardghji to Inter Milan as part of a potential move to sign defender Alessandro Bastoni, their top target this summer.
If Bardghji is to stay, Flick may want to see Bardghji play a much bigger role in Barcelona’s team next season. His performance at this years’ FIFA World Cup could be crucial to whatever decision the club makes.
What will Barcelona do?
Barcelona will only consider loaning Bardghji out this summer. A permanent sale is something the club cannot envisage at this moment in time as they wish to retain control of the players’ future.
However, a sell-on clause is always on the table should the right offer be presented. Selling the player outright doesn’t currently seem to be the Barcelona board’s plan.
