FC Barcelona forward Raphinha has been considering his future as of late according to SPORT.
The Brazilian’s hamstring injury picked up on international duty against France has triggered a phase of introspection.
That’s made “Rapha” think about all the possible scenarios that could unfold. Though at present, it’s thought that him staying is the most likely outcome.
The 29-year-old has already communicated this to the club. The board, the locker room, Deco and Hansi Flick all want him to continue.
Above all, Barca welcome such a period of reflection and appreciate his transparency. They won’t put any pressure on the player. And they’re also convinced that he’ll stay put on a contract that expires on June 30, 2028.
Raphinha still has targets at Barcelona
Though he is about to become a La Liga champion for the third time in four years and will boast seven domestic pieces of silverware overall, Raphinha feels unfulfilled.
The Champions League continues to elude him and a club that hasn’t won it for 11 years, and missing the quarterfinals because of his injury must have been rough to take for a team leader often without the armband.
In total, Raphinha has been out for 19 games in all competitions this season after being the competition’s lead goal contributions provider and joint top scorer last term. His return of 19 goals and 8 assists in 31 games in 2025/2026 is still excellent. But there’s a feeling Barca have taken a step back on the continent after reaching the semifinals a year ago.
When all is said and done, a born winner will soldier on and try his best to deliver European glory. He wants the Ballon d’Or that arguably should have been his in 2025, and a new campaign offers the chance to put things right.
On Saturday against Osasuna, Raphinha travelled to Osasuna with the rest of the team and could earn a few minutes in El Sadar ahead of possibly starting El Clasico on May 10.
