The El Clasico date Barcelona supporters have been waiting on since the calendar dropped is finally fixed. LaLiga confirmed on Tuesday that the first Clasico of the 2026/27 season will be played at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday 25 October at 21:00 CEST — 20:00 in the UK — with the game shown live on DAZN in Spain. It is matchday 10, it is a Sunday night, and it arrives at the end of a week that could decide the shape of Hansi Flick’s autumn.
El Clasico date, kick-off time and where it sits in the calendar
Per Mundo Deportivo, the league’s scheduling announcement puts Barcelona at home to Real Madrid on the last Sunday in October in the 21:00 slot. Clocks go back across Europe that same morning, so the one-hour gap between Barcelona and the UK holds: 21:00 in Catalonia is 20:00 for anyone watching in Britain.
That is the earlier of the two league meetings. The Blaugrana travel to the Santiago Bernabeu for the return on matchday 35, the weekend of 8-9 May, which means Barcelona get the first shot on home turf and Madrid get the last word in the run-in — the reverse of a fixture pattern that has often favoured the Catalans late in a title race.
A brutal week either side of it
Neither side arrives fresh. Barcelona are away to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday 20 October, five days before kick-off — a trip that, on paper, is the hardest night of their league-phase draw. Real Madrid have it marginally easier: they host RB Leipzig at home on Wednesday 21 October before travelling to Barcelona.
So Flick will have four days to recover a squad coming off a European away trip against the reigning European champions, while Real Madrid get three days after a home fixture. Rotation in Paris is now not a question of if but of who.
Barcelona go into it in form
The good news, from a Blaugrana point of view, is that the team heading towards 25 October looks nothing like a side in transition. Barcelona have won all three of their opening league games, the most recent a frenetic 5-2 over Rayo Vallecano at the Camp Nou, and sit top of LaLiga on goal difference with Real Madrid level on nine points.
Raphinha, filling in as a centre-forward nobody expected him to play, scored twice against Rayo and is La Liga’s leading scorer with five goals. Lamine Yamal added a brace of his own and has become the youngest player in the club’s history to reach 50 Barcelona goals.
Flick, meanwhile, quietly entered the record books. As reported by Barca Universal, the German has now spent 59 matchdays top of LaLiga as Barcelona manager, equalling Johan Cruyff’s tally. Cruyff needed 300 league games to get there; Flick has taken 79. That is 74.7 per cent of his matchdays in charge spent at the summit, against 57.2 per cent for Pep Guardiola, the next best among coaches with at least one full La Liga season.
The squad is now closed
Whatever Flick names on 25 October, it will come from the group he already has. Sporting director Deco confirmed on deadline day that Barcelona would make no further additions, answering a single word — “No” — when asked whether more business was coming after Gabriel Jesus arrived from Arsenal. The Brazilian, who has taken the No.9 shirt and signed until 2029, is the last piece of a summer that also brought Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Rodri, Joao Cancelo and Dominik Livakovic.
It means the striker question that dominated August — the long, unresolved pursuit of Julian Alvarez included — is settled for now, and the first Clasico becomes the first real test of whether this attack can do it against the opposition that matters most.
Eight weeks to wait. Sunday 25 October, 21:00, Spotify Camp Nou.
