  • FC Barcelona started their Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Atletico Madrid trailing 2-0.
  • Inside five minutes, however, Lamine Yamal scored to put pressure on the home team.
  • Hansi Flick’s decision to play Ferran Torres instead of Robert Lewandowski paid off.

FC Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal gave his team hope of qualifying for the Champions League semifinals by scoring early in a quarterfinal second leg clash against Atletico Madrid.

The Catalans started the evening trailing 2-0 following a disastrous first leg at the Spotify Camp Nou last week.

Talking up the chances of pulling off a remontada, however, Lamine delivered within five minutes to put Atleti on the back foot.

Lamine’s pressure proved important in Barcelona’s goal

Working hard off the ball, Lamine’s pressing resulted in a spilled ball.

The decision to start Ferran Torres over Robert Lewandowski paid off for Hansi Flick, as the scorer of a brace against Espanyol laid off a quick first touch pass to Lamine.

Showing a striker’s killer instinct, Lamine made no mistake adjusting his body and slotting home past Juan Musso on four minutes.

With perhaps a full 90 left, he gave his team hope of at least scoring another and forcing extra time early on.
