- FC Barcelona are set to make a fresh 1-year contract extension proposal to Robert Lewandowski, as he is in the final 6 months of his deal.
- The striker is currently waiting to formally receive the offer before making a decision with the rest of his family.
- His current deal expires in June, 2026.
Robert Lewandowski signed for FC Barcelona in 2022 as part of a €50 million deal with Bayern Munich, and has scored 117 goals for the club in just 184 matches alongside winning multiple trophies.
He’s now facing a monumental decision as his current deal approaches its final stages, however, with the board planning to offer him a new contract subject to the player’s final decision.
A new FC Barcelona deal in sight
Joan Laporta has already expressed his desire to keep Lewandowski at the club beyond June 30, 2026, on numerous occasions.
He’s the main driver behind this strategic move as a close friend of his agent Pini Zahavi, who also represents head coach Hansi Flick.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Barça are very much open to keeping the striker for one more year. However, under the new terms, he would have to accept a salary reduction, in addition to likely taking on a more secondary role off the bench next season.
Lewandowski has always shown nothing but commitment and professionalism, and that is precisely why the club is keen to tie him down to a new short-term deal.
Although a final decision is yet to be made, he is prioritizing Barcelona first over any other offers he receives.
Saudi Arabia and the United States calling for Lewandowski?
Other than Barça, there are also clubs from Saudi and United States that have shown interest in signing Lewandowski on a free transfer at the end of the season, leaving the final decision in the player’s hands.
Clubs from MLS cannot be taken lightly, as their interest in the Polish striker is strong, and April is expected out to be a key month regarding any potential developments in this story.
