  • Ez Abde left FC Barcelona for Real Betis permanently in 2023 after a season-loan at Osasuna.
  • The Morocco international is being linked with a possible return to the Catalans.
  • Yet comments made by his entourage could effectively close the door on that.

Ez Abde and his entourage could have effectively closed the door to a possible FC Barcelona return through comments made to SPORT.

Abde left the Catalans for Real Betis permanently in 2023. Spending the previous season on loan at Osasuna, he departed after making 12 senior appearances for the Blaugrana.

As reported by Reshad Rahman for ReadBarcelona, the Moroccan international has recently appeared on Deco’s shortlist. He’s a possible reinforcement for the left wing, but there are various options.

Receiving an honorary shirt for 100 Betis appearances against Hansi Flick’s men on December 6 last year, however, it doesn’t seem like the 24-year-old is interested in playing second fiddle to Raphinha in their shared area of the pitch.

Ez Abde wants regular playing time that Barcelona can’t guarantee him

Speaking to SPORT, Abde’s entourage pointed that the winger “has always prioritized playing, feeling important every weekend. Furthermore, “he doesn’t contemplate returning to a place where he doesn’t have continuity”.

That’s something Hansi Flick can’t guarantee Abde whenever Raphinha is around. Though moments like the present show there might be opportunities when the Brazilian is injured.

Raphinha picked up a second hamstring knock in 2025/2026 on international duty for his country against France, but should return against Osasuna this weekend or in the Clasico on May 10.

Meanwhile, it can’t be ruled out that Barcelona extend Marcus Rashford’s loan. That’s what Florian Plettenburg says Deco is currently trying to do, while Reshad Rahman reported the Mancunian’s future is uncertain in Catalonia.

If he goes anywhere, Abde looks more set for the Premier League amid interest from Liverpool. With his peak years ahead of him, a second stint at Barca can’t be discarded one day, it just looks unlikely as things stand and he’s right to prioritise playing time over silverware or prestige.
