Barcelona Reach Josué Caicedo Agreement As Ecuador Prospect Set For Barça Atlètic Move

Barcelona have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Ecuadorian left-back Josué Caicedo from LDU Quito, with the teenager expected to join Barça Atlètic before any first-team push.

The 19-year-old is set to arrive on an initial loan structure worth around €2.5m, according to a fresh report from Barca Blaugranes, which cites Fabrizio Romano’s update on the agreement.

Caicedo has been tracked after impressing in South American youth competition, and the proposed route makes sense for Barcelona: get the deal done early, place him in the reserve side, and let Hansi Flick’s staff monitor his development without forcing an immediate senior leap.

Barça Atlètic route keeps pressure off Caicedo

The move would continue Barcelona’s push to stock the pathway beneath the first team with high-upside international prospects. Caicedo’s profile is particularly interesting because left-back depth remains a long-term planning point behind Alejandro Balde, even if any senior role is likely to be gradual.

For Barça Atlètic, the deal would add a young, attack-minded defender with room to adapt to the club’s positional demands. For Barcelona’s transfer department, it is a relatively low-cost move with a clear upside: secure the player before his market grows, then let development decide how quickly he climbs. That makes this one to watch beyond the headline fee.
