Eric Garcia Says Anthony Gordon Gives Barcelona A Different Pressing Threat

Eric Garcia has praised Anthony Gordon’s pressing and speed after Barcelona’s summer move for the England winger, saying the new signing gives Hansi Flick a different attacking profile.

Gordon joined Barcelona from Newcastle United before the 2026 World Cup and is currently away with England before linking up with his new club colleagues. Garcia has now offered one of the clearest dressing-room reads on why Barca wanted him.

According to a fresh update from Barca Blaugranes, Garcia described Gordon as quick, relentless without the ball and capable of attacking space in a way that differs from Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

Gordon Gives Barcelona A New Forward Option

The key detail is not simply that Garcia likes the signing. It is the type of winger he believes Barcelona have added.

Gordon’s direct running and pressing should suit Flick’s high-energy structure, especially in matches where Barca need width that does not rely only on one-v-one dribbling. Garcia also referenced facing Gordon in the Champions League, which gives the praise added weight.

For Barcelona supporters, the timing is useful. Gordon’s club integration will wait until after England’s World Cup campaign, but the early message from inside the squad is clear: Barcelona believe they have signed a winger who can stretch games, press from the front and add a different rhythm to an already loaded attack.
