Hamza Abdelkarim Signs Permanent Barcelona Deal Until 2029

Barcelona have exercised their purchase option for Hamza Abdelkarim, with the Egyptian forward now set to remain at the club on a permanent deal until 30 June 2029.

The 18-year-old joined the Blaugrana from Al Ahly during the winter window and has done enough in the youth structure for the club to lock in his next step. Barcelona confirmed the decision in a fresh update from the club’s official website, stating that Al Ahly have been informed the purchase option is being activated.

Abdelkarim is currently with Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, where Barcelona say he has featured in both of his country’s opening matches against Belgium and New Zealand. That international exposure gives the deal extra weight: this is not just a youth-squad registration, but a long-term investment in a forward already operating around senior football.

Barcelona Secure Another Long-Term Attacking Prospect

The move fits Barcelona’s wider push to secure high-upside young attackers before their market value jumps. Abdelkarim is expected to continue his development around Barça Atlètic, but a permanent contract gives Hansi Flick and the club’s technical staff a clearer runway to assess him during the next cycle.

For supporters, the key point is certainty. Barcelona have not left the arrangement drifting into another summer negotiation; they have acted early, protected the player’s future and kept a World Cup teenager inside the pathway until 2029.
