FC Barcelona have reached a full agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Germany winger Karim Adeyemi, president Joan Laporta has confirmed.
According to a fresh update from Mundo Deportivo, the two clubs have settled on a package worth an initial €22 million plus a further €7 million in performance add-ons, with Adeyemi due to sign a five-year contract through to 2031. Speaking to reporters in Dallas ahead of Spain’s World Cup semi-final, remarks carried by beIN Sports, Laporta credited sporting director Deco with driving the deal through: “We are very excited about Adeyemi. We’ve liked him for a while now. He is dangerous and fast, and the signing was handled very well by Deco,” the president said, adding that “the news came out exactly when it was supposed to.”
Hansi Flick Reunion Adds A Personal Layer To The Deal
Dortmund have written a sell-on clause into the agreement, with Spanish outlets reporting the German club’s cut at close to a fifth of any future resale, though British reporting has put the figure nearer a third — the exact percentage remains unconfirmed pending the final paperwork.
The move also carries a personal thread for Hansi Flick, who handed Adeyemi his senior Germany debut during his time as national-team coach, and the winger arrives as Barcelona’s second attacking addition of the summer following the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
Laporta, in the same Dallas remarks, addressed Raphinha’s future, insisting the Brazilian “is going to stay” and remains “key for us” despite the growing competition out wide. It is the latest deal to bear Deco’s fingerprints on Barcelona’s summer rebuild, with Adeyemi expected in Catalonia in the coming days to complete his medical and put pen to paper.
