At a glance

  • Lamine Yamal called Diego Kochen his ‘son’ after scoring a ridiculous outside of the foot shot on the FC Barcelona training ground.
  • Despite a racism drama midweek on the training ground, the 18-year-old seems relaxed ahead of crunch La Liga and Champions League matches against Atletico Madrid.
  • The strike reminded some Culers of a famous Ronaldinho goal.

FC Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal scored a ridiculous top corner shot with the outside of the blessed left foot at FC Barcelona’s Joan Gamper CT training ground on Friday, and shared footage of the clip to his 40 million followers on Instagram.

Third choice goalkeeper Diego Kochen was the unlucky recipient of the wonder strike, causing Lamine to tease the American with a caption that read “always my son”.

Lamine Yamal continues to do the unimaginable

Shared in an Instagram story and soundtracked by Brazilian funk, the clip shows Lamine firing off the shot which causes a teammate to fall to the floor in disbelief while Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia look on impressed.

Lamine runs towards the sidelines of the training pitch whipping his shirt off in celebration, and continues to deft logic.

For many, the screamer is reminiscent of THAT 2005 Ronaldinho goal against Chelsea in the Champions League.

Similarly, the Brazilian is in a static position but seems to be able to fire off his shot past Peter Cech at a physics-defying rate of speed and power – and perhaps Lamine’s effort is even more impressive because of it being from a further distance.

Lamine’s and Ronaldinho’s goals are separated by an important observation

That being said, Dinho’s classic was on the biggest stage of all and not in a non-competitive setting. And while Lamine already has plenty of European strikes to his name such as that in the semifinal first leg last season against Inter, he can start levelling up with his fellow legendary number 10 by making Atletico Madrid pay in the same competition’s last eight stage and in the league over the next 10 days.

In Raphinha’s absence, Lamine’s even further charged with being a difference maker for Hansi Flick‘s men, should their dreams of repeating a treble containing long-lost European glory are to be realised.
