Raphinha has begun treatment after Brazil confirmed the Barcelona winger felt pain in his right hamstring during the first half of the 3-0 World Cup win over Haiti in Philadelphia.
The 29-year-old started Brazil’s Group C match on Friday night and had an early goal ruled out for offside before leaving the pitch before half-time. Brazil still secured their first win of the tournament, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice and Vinicius Junior adding a third before the interval, but the post-match concern for Barcelona is now centred on Raphinha’s fitness.
The Brazilian federation said the forward would be re-evaluated after beginning treatment, according to ESPN’s report on the injury update.
Barcelona face a nervous wait on Raphinha
For Barcelona, the timing is awkward. Raphinha has been central to Hansi Flick’s attacking plans, and any hamstring issue during a major tournament carries obvious risk because Brazil will not want to rush a player who relies so heavily on repeated acceleration.
The immediate question is whether he can remain involved for Brazil’s next Group C match against Scotland in Miami on June 24. Until the re-evaluation is complete, Barcelona’s focus will be on the severity of the problem rather than the result itself.
Brazil improved after their opening draw with Morocco, but Raphinha’s withdrawal leaves both club and country waiting for the medical detail that matters most.
