Ansu Fati has reportedly reached a full agreement with AS Monaco, leaving only a minor tax-related formality between the forward and a permanent Barcelona exit. The 23-year-old is set to sign a four-year contract with the Ligue 1 club once that final issue is resolved, according to a fresh update from Mundo Deportivo.
The report states that the latest summit involving Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, left all key terms agreed and the move effectively on track. Sources involved in the talks are said to believe the remaining tax details will not jeopardise the deal and should be settled early next week, with Barcelona keen to close the matter before the end of the 2025-26 fiscal year on June 30.
What the Monaco delay means for Barcelona
The important point for Barcelona supporters is that this no longer appears to be a negotiation about whether Fati wants Monaco or whether the clubs can find a basic framework. Mundo Deportivo says Monaco had already informed Barca in mid-April of their intention to trigger the forward’s €11 million clause.
The final shape of the agreement still matters. Barcelona have pushed to retain some control over Fati’s future, either through a buy-back clause or a percentage of a later sale, while Monaco wanted a five-year deal and Fati preferred a contract through 2030. Until the clubs announce it, the transfer remains unofficial, but the direction of travel is now clear.
