Barcelona are among the clubs monitoring Micky van de Ven’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur, with the Dutch defender yet to reach an agreement over a new Spurs contract.
The update comes from Sky Sports’ latest Tottenham transfer report, which says Barcelona are keeping an eye on Van de Ven while the centre-back has also drawn Premier League interest.
Tottenham are said to want the 25-year-old to stay long term, and Roberto De Zerbi has described him as the best left-sided central defender in the Premier League.
Barcelona Alerted To Contract Situation
Van de Ven has two years left on his deal, with Tottenham holding an option to extend for a further 12 months. Initial talks have taken place, but there is currently no agreement.
For Barcelona, that makes the situation worth tracking rather than a confirmed move. Hansi Flick’s side have repeatedly been linked with left-footed defensive options, and Van de Ven’s pace, recovery defending and ability to cover large spaces would naturally fit a high defensive line.
The key point is that Spurs remain in control. With the extra-year option, Tottenham are not under immediate contractual pressure, but Barcelona’s interest ensures the defender’s next step is now a story to follow closely through the summer window.
